Do you also hate long layovers at the airports? Well, who doesn’t? On the way to Colombia we had 8-hour layover at Ataturk airport in Istanbul and just a few hours before arrival I found out a perfect way to enjoy it there to the fullest.
There are numerous lounges where you can get access even if you are not a business class traveler. You don’t even have to make a reservation. After some time we finally found Primeclass lounge at international terminal. We were asked to pay 59, – Euro per 2 persons and after payment by credit card I received a Primeclass lounge card. With this card my next entrance fee will be reduced from 29, 50 per person to 19 Euro.
Do you get what you pay for?
Almost 30 Euro per person might not seem that cheap but let’s see what they offer. First of all the access is basically unlimited, so you can stay as long as you wish. There are two big rooms where you can get some rest from crowds at the airport, although at the time of our visit was pretty crowded as well. There are many comfortable chairs, couches or even an office space. Tablets are available on the table next to each chair. Toilets and showers are available as well. There is a Wi-Fi connection which works pretty good.
There is a buffet with unlimited food like pasta, salads, cheese, pastries etc. My favorite part was the unlimited bar. Sometimes I had to wait for some time for the bartender to show up but once he did you are free to order anything you see. They serve pretty good draft beer, different types of wine, cocktails and any hard alcohol you can imagine.
So is it really worth spending almost 30 Euro for Primeclass lounge?
If you have a long layover you are more likely going to spend money on food and drinks anyway. If you like to have some other food rather than fast food and some beers at any airport you know how expensive it can get. So in this case I definitely recommend to pay the entrance to any of those lounges because you can easily eat and drink even more than you pay for. And when you count other benefits like showers, tablets, TV etc. it is pretty easy to decide.
