It used to be a capital city of Khmer empire between 9th and 15th centuries. Nowadays, Angkor is one of the most visited UNESCO world heritage sites in the world and the most visited site in Cambodia. Definitely the most known temple of all is Angkor Wat, which is also the most visited and in the best shape. The are of Angkor complex is a vast 1000 square kilometers and consists of 72 main temples and hundreds of ruins. Although full of tourists, there are some places where you can relax and enjoy the mystic atmosphere.
