Tangalooma Island resort – beach paradise right on Brisbane’s doorstep.

On the top of our list while being in Brisbane was definitely a day trip to Moreton Island and its famous Tangalooma Island resort. Just in 75 minutes by catamaran you will be transferred into another world from busy streets of Brisbane.

Tangalooma Island offers everything that you need for great relax and excitement from Marine discovery cruise, ATV quad bike tour, Desert safari tour, Sand tobogganing to Snorkeling sunken shipwrecks which was our choice.

The best way on a hot day in Brisbane is to do a day trip. For approx. 150 AUD you get a catamaran ride to and from Tangalooma Island resort which departs at 7 and 10 am to the island and leaves the island at 2 and 4 pm. Price also includes a 20 $ lunch voucher and snorkel tour which includes snorkel gear, boat ride to the ship wrecks and a guide. In the case you just want to get there the cheapest option is to choose just the Beach day cruise for $ 89.

Snorkeling around the ship wrecks was our main target while on the island. Those 15 sunken ship wrecks were sunk to form a break wall for smaller boats back in 1963. Now it is a great dive and snorkel spot but unfortunately during our visit there were very strong currents and water was not very clear. Our snorkeling in Airlie Beach was much better due to calmer and clearer waters. But still snorkeling around such wrecks it was  a great experience and would definitely recommend visiting Moreton Island.
